I found this tutorial on one of my favorite websites called a beautiful mess. <http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/projects-a-beautiful-mess-diy-index.html> enjoy!
Elbow patches are one of my favorite trends, and this tutorial is beyond cute!
Supplies you will need:
-cardigan,
-fabric (this is a great way to use scraps!)
- fabric marker/crayon
-1 sheet of card stock
- scissors
- pins
-embroidery
thread and embroidery needle
1. Using the fabric marker, mark an X on each sleeve of your cardigan right at the point of your elbow.
2. Cut a heart out of card stock to use as a stencil, making sure it fits perfectly on the sleeves of your cardigan. Re-size if necessary.
2. Cut a heart out of card stock to use as a stencil, making sure it fits perfectly on the sleeves of your cardigan. Re-size if necessary.
Cut two hearts from fabric, using stencil. 4. Pin a heart to each
sleeve of your cardigan, making sure the center of the heart is placed
over the X you made earlier. 5. Stitch all the way around the heart with
embroidery thread. You could also use a sewing machine! If you want
a "handmade" look, you can hand stitch.
6. Repeat on the other sleeve, and your restyled cardigan is finished!
Arm Candy!
I love arm candy! I don't know about you, but my wrists have been begging for some color and cuteness lately. I made this recently. You can stamp them with any word or phrase you want (I chose gurly girl) It's super easy and super cute!

DIY repurposed sweatshirt
This project is super easy for the beginning sewer, and is a super cute way to spice up your wardrobe. I love to do this with any t-shirt or old sweatshirt. I got this from one of my favorite webistes: abeautifulmess.typepad.com/
This is what you will need:
-old t-shirt or sweatshirt
-crochet doilies
-thread
-pins
-bias tape
-embroidery of crochet thread
-sewing machine
-crochet of lace trip
First, cut the neckline off your sweatshirt for an off-the-shoulder look, then arrange the doilies along the neckline.
Next, pin the doilies in place.
Using an embroidery thread or crochet thread that matches the doilies,
make a couple of stitches every half inch or so. Also add a few
stitches to the middle of each doily or anywhere else that may need it.
After cutting the excess from the doilies on the neckline, pin and sew
the bias tape. This will prevent the doilies from unraveling.
Add a little decorative trim if you like! Most craft stores sell pretty lace and crochet varieties.
Your sweater can be washed on gentle cycle and either hung to dry or
dried with low heat. A simple and pretty way to stay warm in the
upcoming winter months!

Sew Liberated Tunic
I recently made this tunic out of some beautiful fabric that was given to me as a gift. I bought a great pattern from sew liberated and it was super easy and looks adorable! Whether over a pair of jeans, leggings, or tights it is the perfect basis for my winter wardrobe.
Moebius scarf
I made this reversible scarf a couple of days ago. I found to fabrics I absolutely feel in love with, but I wanted to make something other than a bag. I decided to make a reversible moebius scarf (infinity scarf). I think it turned out really cute, and it is now my favorite accessory for cold winter days!

Elmer the Elephant
I made Elmer in an art class over the summer. I made the base out of paper mache, and a wire frame. I painted him white and the decorated him with beads, mardi-gras necklaces, ribbon, fabric, paper, and basically everything I could find. I think he is the cutest Indian elephant ever!
Ani Hoover
I painted this with my mom 2 years ago modeling of off Ani hoover. I
recently discovered it tucked in a closet, in my home.
If you want to try this at home...
You will need:
- Circular household objects (paper towel tubes, paper cups, bottle caps, ect.)
-different color dyes
-piece of paper or canvas; the bigger the better
- A spray bottle (optional)
We did this by mixing together different color dyes, I did a mix of pinks, reds, oranges, yellow, and a little bit of green.
Then we collected different circular household objects, such as paper towel tubes, paper cups, even bottle caps.
The next step is to take the different sizes of circles and place them in the dyes and stamp them on to your piece of paper.
Experiment with wetting the paper with the spray bottle, before or after putting the dye on the paper.
Layer circles on top of each other, with different colors.
Good luck!
And have fun!

Love bird make-up bag!
I have managed to sew all of my family members Christmas gifts. This one I made for my sister. I love how it turned out; it seems like a great whimsical find from anthropologie and I absolutely love it!
Sewing Machine
My sewing machine is my number one piece of equipment for sewing any project. It stitches very well and has a wide variety stitch types. I highly recommend this machine; it is a Joname DC 2012!
